Hi there! My name is Daphene. I am the creative behind Dashee' Fine Art and am so thrilled that you decided to stop by. What you will see is a blend of original canvas paintings, artistic photography and natural light photography. Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, art became a part of my life as a way to cope with loss, a way to channel my thoughts into expression. Even though I do not bear any accompanying accolades at this time, life has been my teacher over many years, specifically 18 years to be exact. After my father lost his battle in 2004 to mental illness, I needed to find my way. I went to Michael's and invested in all types of books that taught step by step artist expressions in many different mediums. Starting with basic folk flowers and graphite pencil drawings, with time I continued on to more complex compositions ranging from landscapes and people to abstract expressionism or the combination of them all. Whenever I ran out of space for storage, I sold a few. Now I endeavor to make this a life for myself and my family because I love it. And there is no greater freedom than to do what you love.
If you are familiar with the artist community as a whole, then you know we rarely dabble in one form of expression. This is where photography enters the chat. I have been a professional portrait and wedding photographer since 2015. Again, learning as I go along. I have been blessed immeasurably with a supportive group of family, friends, clientele, and artists alike. These have nurtured me into not being afraid to express my emotions through my art.
My inspiration comes from taking every opportunity to find the beauty in all things and in every situation. All of which is included in every brush stroke and shutter click. This is what I hope to share with you --- emotion, progression and growth.
