Here we are in this pandemic and social distancing era and we are cherishing moments more than ever before. My clients wanted something special to celebrate their 10 year anniversary. And let me tell y'all, they came to slay and took no prisoners! It was a gorgeous day with perfect lighting and it was important for me to make them feel like they had the park all to themselves. Then Questin and Alexis turned on the magic! WE had a great time!

Every so often something special just kind of happens. The client, place and photographer create a "moment" where everything just comes together. To say that I loved this photo session is an understatement. She had visions of a field and I'm so happy I was able to find one for her!
Location: Mechanicsville, Virginia Everything was perfect for a couple that is truly perfect for each other. While I prefer to meet my bride in person, at times circumstances prevent this. Her fiancé contacted me requested me to photograph their wedding so I only ended up talking to the bride to be over the phone and via a messaging app. From there I tried to get as much information as I could. I cannot thank her enough for the amount of trust she placed in me as her photographer and cheerleader for the day! Congratulations to this beautiful couple!
A beautiful couple is really all that is needed. So much can be said about this couple, about their new love, and commitment to each other. However, I'll just let you in on a little something I noticed about them. Two different personalities that complimented each other so well, they created something new within themselves - something fresh and vibrant - I personally find that amazing to watch. As a photographer, I have the pleasure of entering a person's deepest feelings for someone else from behind the camera. You could call it love but I think it's more than that. I love shooting at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. It was so cold outside this day but looking at these pictures, you would never know it. I had a great time working with this beautiful couple. Knowing what the weather would be like that day, I got there ahead of time to scout out all of the places directly in the sun so we all wouldn't freeze to death. We took a few shots here and there before going inside to get a couple of shots. The couple wanted just a few pictures to celebrate their first year wedding anniversary. At the end, they both exclaimed, "We didn't know this was going to be a REAL photoshoot". Made me smile way too hard. Please click on each photo for full picture. Location: Richmond, Virginia
Where oh where do I even begin? I just love when you can see and feel a couple's love through the camera. Everything was just so natural. They even braved the March winds. When I was first contacted the groom to be of course mentioned that they were Steelers fans and wanted something yellow in the photographs. He decided on VCU. That campus is awesome for engagement photos. Then we decided on Main Street Train Status for the dressier photos. Well that did not pan out and we had to choose a different location. Thankfully the Quirk Hotel in Downtown Richmond came to our rescue. Besides them being one of the coolest hotels in Richmond, the inside had some pretty neat "hideaway" spots away from the crowd. Side note: When they walked in the hotel, everyone noticed! People moved out of their way so they could get the pictures we needed. Talk about "star" power! I had the privilege of giving a session to my niece for her blog, Lucy Lee Beats Polly. When I asked what she had in mind, she told me her theme for the feel of her blog is trees. We took advantage of a beautiful fall day at the University of Richmond (I love that campus). The sunset hit just right. And even when the sun set it created a dark mood that was somehow centering and calming. So I did not use my flash at all. Just the surrounding light that was starting to taper off. When my sister-in-love called me to take anniversary pictures for her and my brother's 10th anniversary, there was no hesitation. We set up a date, drove to downtown Richmond, Virginia and went on a hunt for several locations that were selected beforehand. Fifteen minutes into the session, the skies opened and it poured like it was about to rain for 40 days and 40 nights. So we sat and tried to wait it out. In between rain clouds we would jump out and try to snap a few photos and run back to the car. As time went on the rain would not let up. However, we kept hope alive. My "clients" needed to change clothes. So we stopped at a local hotel and asked if we could use restrooms for changing. They were so accommodating. Well, the hotel was BEAUTIFUL on the inside. While they were changing I scouted out a couple of spots that were secluded enough at the time to take a few shots. So this session went a lot differently than planned but thanks to very willing participants who did not give up, they actually challenged my imagination and helped me develop my eye even further. Here's to more wonderful years for the both of you! (click on a picture to enjoy the full shot) Location: Downtown Richmond Virginia and the Hilton Hotel Lobby
I love doing bridal sessions. This one was no exception. My bride was so beautiful I knew that a natural setting would showcase that. Finding the right one was the challenge. After several failed attempts to use one location that has gardens, we both settled on a place that had just enough of a natural setting to get the feel I wanted for her. Only thing, it was hot as ever that day. And anyone knows Virginia humidity is nothing to toy around with much less being a bride in full bridal attire. Somehow, through ways unknown I was able to time it just right to get her into the calm before the storm. Literally! Ten minutes after the session it poured cats and dogs outside. We made it though and the natural surroundings enveloped her beauty. Location: Midlothian Mines, Midlothian, VA
We had a perfect day to take pictures and the Canal Walk in Richmond, VA was the perfect site to showcase these two love birds. I love watching "new love". It's something about seeing two individuals come together and blossoming into something new and fresh. Congratulations to Lee and Jamal on their engagement. I am so excited for the wedding!
